Mrs. Eva Eddy
Mrs. Eva Eddy, the oldest member of the Erie chapter
of Eastern Star in point of years of membership was given a surprise Saturday
afternoon by a group of Star members and relatives from Erie at the Hahn
Nursing Home in Tampico, where she has been staying for nearly two years.
The occasion honored her 81st
birthday anniversary. Mrs. Eddy’s neice, Mrs. R.E. Potter of Aurora, whom
she reared as a daughter, arrived at the Hahn home Friday evening. She brought
a birthday cake decorated in pink and yellow roses and sweet peas.
This was served later in the
afternoon with ice cream brought by the Erie group and coffee provided by Mrs.
Fred Hahn. The guests sang “Happy Birthday” to Mrs. Eddy. Before leaving some
of the Star members sang an appropriate song.
The Star sisters were Mrs.
James Ellison, worthy matron, Mrs. Payne Thompson, who served as pianist for
the songs, Mrs. Edwin Arnette, Mrs. Albert Miller, Mrs. Hattie Young, who is a
cousin of the honoree, Mrs. Alice Kirkland, Mrs. Paul Carlson and Mrs. Edith
Schaible.
Relatives present were Mrs. John James and Mrs. Minnie
Mason. Other guests were Mrs. Cecile McMillan and Miss Vera Booth.
